Biedermeier Walnut Table, South Germany 1820
$ 99.37
Elegant Biedermeier walnut table, crafted in Southern Germany circa 1820. This round antique table features a beautiful walnut veneer with a piecrust-style top. The table stands on a central vase-shaped column. The base showcases a Triskelion motif, a decorative design dating back to antiquity. The term “Triskelion” comes from the Greek word triskelēs, meaning “three-legged,” and refers to its three interlocking spirals or curved elements. Historically, it symbolizes movement, balance, and harmony. In Biedermeier furniture, it adds a subtle, elegant accent, reflecting the period’s fascination with classical forms and geometric ornamentation. The table has been refinished with a shellac hand polish (French polish). This creates a deep, luminous finish while preserving its historic charm. Perfect as a breakfast table, center table, or statement piece in both classic and modern interiors. Dimensions: Diameter: 115 cm / 45.28 inHeight: 77 cm / 30.31 in
